How well do you know your community?

Winter in the Algarve is a whole different vibe.
I experienced it two years ago, but this time, I’m indulging in it even more.
Many of the trendy coffee shops and restaurants have closed their doors, waiting for the next busy season to begin.
This makes it the perfect time to discover the local spots - the ones that stay open year-round for the community. These places have completely stolen my heart. They’re where the locals gather, where conversations flow in Portuguese, and where you can enjoy a galão, a sandwich, and a pastel de nata for just 2€.
Compare that to the 4€ lattes in touristy cafés—perfect for digital nomads and expats—and you realize this is a completely different coffee universe.
This got me thinking about the coffee game—and the online world—in the context of communities. Even the best coffee won’t sell if it’s not aligned with the people you’re trying to serve.
And the same applies to your content.
the problem with misaligned offers
Whether you’re running a coffee shop or building a digital presence, the principle is the same: you might have an amazing product or content, but if it’s not aligned with the needs, values, or preferences of your audience, it just won’t land.
In the rush to post consistently on social media or create the next big campaign, it’s easy to lose sight of this. But the truth is, understanding your audience is everything.
how to serve the right crowd
Here’s how to avoid serving up “4€ coffee” content to the wrong people:
🖊️ Know Your Audience
Who are you trying to reach?
Are they locals looking for value, or digital nomads craving a premium experience?
Define your audience as clearly as possible.
🖊️ Understand Their Needs
What excites them?
What challenges are they facing?
What do they truly care about?
These insights will shape how you connect with them.
🖊️ Tailor Your Offer
Your content, products, or services should speak directly to the people you want to serve. If your audience values simplicity and practicality, make sure that’s what you’re delivering.
a lesson for your digital strategy
The 4€ latte isn’t bad - it’s just not the right fit for everyone.
The same goes for your content.
When you create with the right people in mind, your message will resonate, your audience will grow, and your efforts will feel far more rewarding.
If you’re unsure who your audience is or how to serve them better, take a step back and reevaluate. The time you spend aligning your content with your community will pay off!
over to you
When was the last time you checked in with your audience?
Are they the people you truly want to connect with?
If not, it might be time for a shift.
When it comes to my own content, I always create with my target persona in mind to ensure I’m speaking their language and addressing their needs.
For my clients, I take the same tailored approach.
I design pricing packages that fit your unique needs - whether it’s working within your budget, tackling specific challenges, or deciding how much ownership you want to take with your social media channels.
Whether you're building a business, growing a digital presence, or simply rethinking how to connect with your audience, I can help you create strategies that truly resonate. Let's chat!
